Husky is now the highest yielding winter bean on the NIAB Recommended list. It has a more traditional growth habit being similar to Clipper. Many growers find that Wizard can be very short strawed with the result that some grian is too near the ground to harvest.
The produce is smaller than Wizard but is clear skinned and has found favour for Human consumption in the Middle East.
Winter beans help spread the workload and are more suitable or heavy soils where establishment of spring beans can be a problem.
